Waze - Wake of Typhoon
Waze is a fun, community based mapping, traffic & navigation app, 50 million strong.
It's all about contributing to and benefiting from the 'common good' on the road, so hop on board and get involved in your local driving community today!
Install Waze Social GPS Maps & Traffic at playstore now!
Don't forget to turn on GPS on your smartphone to activate Waze.
Menu will be pop-out and just click at navigate.
If let say you want to search for the nearest petrol station or restaurant then simply go to categories.
It's my first day to attend the class!
I'm not sure which route I should take for me to be there on time since I stay in Kepong.
So, I decided to use Waze! I just need to type Uitm Shah Alam at the search box.
There are few options if you type the name of the place instead of full address.
Then, I click UiTM (the red box).
Next, I simply click Go.
The purple colour road is the route I will be using to go to UiTM.
Besides, it will show the approximate time I will reached which is 40 minutes.
Finally, the flag shows the place I wish to go.
I will be very lucky if there is no obstacles along the way to UiTM Shah Alam.
It SELDOM happened especially in the morning!
Along the road, you will see the 3 cars (as picture below).
It means that there is traffic jam in 8 min from my current place.
It can be a complete standstill...
or/and heavy traffic along the way to Shah Alam.
One of the way I can check what is happening during a complete standstill is by looking at the reports.
It may be because of the policemen...
Or accidents. As you can see below, I am able to check what is happening on the road around me
and not just along the road I am currently used.
Same goes to the traffic. If its a heavy traffic in MRR2, I may avoid it and use other alternative.
Before that, I need to know which alternative route that I have to reached Shah Alam.
So, I just need to go back to the menu and choose routes.
Tadaa! I have other choices.
If there is something happened along your way and wish to share with other drivers, you can always make a report whether an accident just happened, there's a policemen or hazard.
Let say you want to make a report for an accident just occurred, you may select whether a minor or major accident and you can also take a picture to show how bad or not it was.
All in all, Waze is all about sharing information about what exactly happened on the road
so that it will benefit other drivers and yourself as well. After all, where do you think you get all the information about accidents and so forth if its not from other drivers?
Sharing is caring :)
Waze Aims to Help The Philippines in Wake of Typhoon
This past weekend the Philippines was struck by Typhoon Haiyan - one of the most powerful and devastating natural disasters in recent memory. Authorities estimate that at least 9.7 million people have been effected by the typhoon. The sheer scale of the damage has made evacuation and the delivery of assistance extremely difficult. We can only imagine how difficult a time this must be.
In an effort to assist in this time of crisis, we have added pins to our maps showing emergency evacuation points across the Philippines.

Wazers in the Philippines can also find the closest rescue point to them simply by typing "help" in the navigation box.
We hope that these efforts along with real-time reports from the Waze community will provide rescue workers with the most up-to-date road conditions on their way to offering help.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those affected by the typhoon. If you must drive, please drive safe. And if there are any more rescue points we should add or any other ways we can help, please reply in the comments below.
