Is the food you buy HALAL?

In this era, people are more concern on the foods they eat. Whether the ingredients are good for their health or whether the foods contain high nutrition. For Muslim people, the most important aspects to look at is whether the foods are Halal.  Halal foods are foods that Muslims are allowed to eat or drink under Islamic Shariʻah (Wikipedia). Play Store for Android has introduced this Halal Check application to make it easier for the Muslim customer to purchase Halal food. These is how the application works :

1.  First, you need to install the application

2. Then, put in the code that you wish to check especially when you are doubt about certain brands. The code is normally written on the package. You can either key in the code, ingredients or animal.

3.  If the food is Halal, then it will appear on your screen as Halal together with the description of the stated code.

3. Otherwise, if its contain the prohibited ingredients, then it will stated as Haram and the reason why it says so. For example, the Cochineal / Carminic Acid is Haram because it contains colors from insects. Some scholars therefore deem ALL other insects as haram because they cannot be slaughtered in accordance to shari'ah, due to their small size and because they are 'bloodless' which means even if somehow slaughtered at the throat, the blood will not flow.

4. So that is how it works. You can share with your friends on the information you get above by taking a picture of that product so that they will remember not to buy (if its Haram) or to continue buying on the products that are doubtful to them (if its Halal). After all, sharing is caring :)
